Who we are

A bit of history
Ibicencan sobrasada has a centuries-old history. From the 16th century onwards, families and villages on the island used the salting technique to better preserve food after pig slaughtering.. Soon after, paprika was added, which gives it its characteristic red color.
Until recently, every farm household had a small flock of eight to ten sheep that were used to weed the fields and fertilize the soil. But the generational transfer to these dwellings has been nil, and in the last twenty years the population of 20,000 head has been reduced by half.
Currently working on the recognition of porc negre eivissenc, this type of pig, like the Iberian, has the fat infiltrated into the meat, which gives it a higher quality. and the Eivissa rabbit fattened with elements typical of the Ibizan countryside.
In order not to lose our history and traditions, we decided to unite.
The first Balearic Islands livestock cooperative is born in Ibiza
The Cooperative was created with the intention of reactivating the island’s livestock sector which, year after year, is losing farms. We hope that it will serve as an example to new farmers, to young people, so that they see that it is also possible to make a living from the countryside, that it is a sector that was abandoned in the 1960s and that little by little we have to get people to return to it.
The cooperative is currently made up of eight farmers as full members and three more who are collaborators. The intention of the cooperative members is that all the farmers who wish to join the cooperative will be able to do so.

Our commitment and passion for what we do
With the opening of this point of sale and the website, we want everyone to be able to try our products.
“Consuming Km0 products is good for your health and for the environment. We have products of excellent quality”.
We are aware that we have to work 365 days a year. It’s a lot of sacrifice, on the one hand, but on the other hand It is very gratifying to see the animals being born, to see them grow and then to know that the final product is of high quality. That makes you proud.
For us, the founding members, one of the main objectives is that all the farmers on the island end up joining the Cooperative.
